With a population of 4.8 million, New Zealand covers an area of 268,021 km2; Auckland is the country's largest city, and Cambridge is its least populous. Auckland is home to one-third of the population, with Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, coming in at number two. The majority of the people in this nation is concentrated in 20 large urban centers, including this one. In New Zealand, 70% of the population is of European heritage, with Maori making up the largest minority group with a population of 16.5%, followed by Asians with a population of 15%. New Zealand's unique and vibrant culture is a result of the blending of several civilizations.
